Dr. Kim Freeman, DACVIM Oncology

Where and When: It’s a new year and with the new year comes new opportunities and exciting changes. Construction on our new facility has begun! We hope that by the first of April, we will be ready to move in to our new home at 10400 SE Main St., Milwaukie, OR. By we, I mean myself, Dr. Ali Book, Dr. John Wooldridge, and our staff Britt, Jed, Aaron, Michelle B. and Michele F. We are joining together our medical oncology and surgery practices to become a unified cancer center, called Veterinary Cancer & Surgery Specialists.

Dream: Opening a stand alone veterinary cancer center is my dream. My intention is to create a place for people to come with their dogs and cats where they feel safe and comfortable. Ali, John and I are creating a space that will be unique to specialty medicine. We will continue to provide the same quality veterinary care that we have been providing to the greater Portland area for more than 10 years, but in a space that we have created based on our experience that we feel best addresses the needs of our clients. We recognize that going through a diagnosis of cancer is stressful and emotional for everyone involved. Our new space is being designed to provide a calm environment, including a healing garden, natural light, and an esthetic that is more homey than medical.

Vision: I envision our lobby to be a space of healing and comfort, where clients can share stories about their pets and their journeys that have brought them to us. I envision our garden to be a place where clients can sit with their pets, family, friends, or alone to meditate, rest, grieve, laugh or cry. I envision space for educational seminars and support groups. I envision our annual Celebration of Life held on the clinic grounds surrounded by past and present patients and clients. I am excited to share this vision with you.

With honor,

Kim
